Test run of the Koh Larn waste incineration system to tackle the waste problem
On August 24, 2025, the Governor of Chonburi Province, together with local residents, children, and members of the press, visited the waste incineration plant on Koh Larn, Pattaya, which is currently under construction and being installed at full speed.
The waste management center is equipped with two incinerators, each with a capacity of 25 tons per day, allowing for a total disposal capacity of up to 50 tons per day. This will cover both newly generated waste and the accumulated waste on Koh Larn, which currently amounts to over 150,000 tons. The first batch of waste incineration is scheduled to begin on September 25, 2025.
The construction of the main plant building is scheduled to be completed by mid-September 2025. Meanwhile, the Learning Center building — a three-story facility — is planned for completion by mid-November 2025. The first floor will serve as an exhibition hall, the second floor as office space, and the third floor as a conference room. Staff and worker accommodations are also provided within the premises to facilitate operations.
This project marks another significant step forward in solid waste management in one of Thailand’s key tourist destinations. It emphasizes efficient and environmentally friendly waste management while reducing long-term impacts on the tourism image of Pattaya City and Chonburi Province.
On this occasion, the Mr. Tom Engineering team, specialists in power plant systems and industrial machinery, presented and demonstrated the operation of real equipment, showcasing the advanced capabilities of the system that is both modern and environmentally friendly.
